The gates to the Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument are now open for visitors. Access to Loop Road from the Swift Brook Road in Sherman and at the northern end, along the Old River Road, is now available. This update was shared in the Friends of Katahdin Woods and Waters’ May eNewsletter, which is dedicated to celebrating its members.

The eNewsletter also includes advocacy updates and details about a Leave No Trace Trainer course. The Leave No Trace Trainer course is part of the organization’s efforts to promote responsible outdoor recreation and minimize human impact on the environment.

The Friends of Katahdin Woods and Waters is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and protecting the natural, cultural, and recreational resources of the Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument. The May eNewsletter is part of their effort to keep members informed and engaged in their activities.
